How To Recover Permanently Deleted Emails From Gmail- A Quick Guide!

When you delete an email from your Gmail inbox, it goes to the Trash folder. The emails in the Trash folder do not consume the storage quota allotted to you by Google. However, Trash folder keeps the emails only for 30 days from the date of deletion. After 30 days, the emails are deleted permanently from your Gmail account. If you wish to remove the email permanently from the account before 30 days you can go to the Trash folder, select the email and click the ‘Delete forever’ button on the top. Emails can be recovered from the Trash folder within 30 days. But, once they are removed from Trash, they cannot be recovered or that is what we think we know!

If you deleted an important email by mistake and now wish to recover it, there’s still a way. This method may not always work but it is worth a try. Just follow all the steps and know how to recover permanently deleted emails easily.

Getting Your Emails Back

It seems that Google does not delete the emails from its server for a while even if they have been removed from the Trash folder. If you wish to recover those emails, you will need to get in touch with Google. There is an online form you can fill in order to request Google to recover the emails. Open https://support.google.com/mail/contact/missingemails to request email recovery. It will help you to recover permanently deleted emails Gmail.

This is the same form that you need to fill to request recovery of the missing emails. Several users had reported about emails that went missing and thus Google had to create this form. Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Visit the link https://support.google.com/mail/contact/missingemails and log in with your Gmail account for which you wish to recover the emails. If you are already logged in to Google, the form will fill in your email address automatically. You can change the email address if you wish to recover emails for a different account
  2. Under the ‘Describe the Problem’ section specify the dates in the ‘When did you first notice the messages were missing?’ Your emails may not be missing and you might have accidentally deleted them. In that case specify the date for which you wish to recover the emails.
  3. In the ‘Description of your issue and precise steps to reproduce it’ field briefly explain the issue to help Google understand the problem. You can specify whether the emails were accidentally deleted or they simply went missing.
  4. After providing the description, click ‘Submit’

Google will probably say that they will get back to you within 24 hours. However, they are usually better than that and respond within a few hours letting you know whether or not they could recover the emails. If the emails have been recovered, you will see them in your inbox again.

This method works with varying degree of success at different instances. Therefore, do not take it for given that your deleted gmail emails will be recovered. But, there is a chance and this is why it is worth a try, especially if you need to recover an important email.
